I stumbled on this while looking for something else—and BTW—the last photo-credit belongs to me. :)

'Enjoyed the survey of Big Pine Key's Long Beach and its stands of Bay Cedar, plus the too-short hosting stayover at Little Torch Key. The company of Bob, Alana and Paula was a most enjoyable treat.

Great blog, neat photos! Any tips on arranging a more affordable trip to see the Monarchs in Mexico this winter. I hear it's gonna be a big gathering. But NWF and other tours seem super expensive.

Hello, Bob!

I didn't discover this blog until your trip was over. Great adventure! My husband, Darrell, and I are retired from Snohomish County and living in Atenas, Costa Rica now. We love it! A new butterfly every day! If you get back down to CR please look us up. We have a great guest room and lots of birds and butterflies right outside. I am just getting my hummingbird/butterfly garden estabished. Please give my best to Thea. I hear she's been going through tough times.

Your Old Friend,
Lorna Smith

Bob,
I had the pleasure to meet you in Pacific Grove at the museum towards the begining of your adventure and followed it throughout. Well done!

My 15-year old is a butterfly enthusiast/budding entomologist(it is this interest that got him a junior curator position at our local natural science museum). Now that he is in high school, I have to begin thinking about college for him. In the midst of one of my on-line searches re: university entomology programs that promote conservation/preservation, I discovered Xerces and your butterfly blog--great fun, I learned a lot, and stored some travel ideas for my son. Can't wait to show him your blog. Your passion, sense of adventure, willingness to share, and humor are much appreciated. A touch of Richard Feynman and my great love, Charlie M. Russell. Thank you!!
