Join Xerces Society staff for their presentations as part of the The Growing Stronger Collaborative Conference on Organic & Sustainable Farming. With more than 90 workshops and roundtables plus over 100 exhibitors, Growing Stronger provides the content farmers need to make critical decisions for farming success.
Stephanie Frischie and Jennifer Hopwood (Xerces Society) will be joined by Rick Clark of Clark Land and Cattle for their presentation titled "Underground Invertebrates – Farming with Soil Life" on February 22nd from 12:30 - 2:00 PM (CST). Soil invertebrates–annelids, springtails, firefly larvae, and others–are fundamental to soil health. They help create soil structure, cycle organic matter, consume weed seeds, and predate crop pests. Learn about common soil invertebrates, their ecology and roles in soil health, scouting methods, and management strategies to increase beneficial soil animal populations.
Cameron Newell (Xerces Society) is giving a presentation titled "Bee Better Certification: Add Value to Your Farm & Market" on February 24th from 12:30 - 2:00 PM (CST). Bee Better Certified is a market based incentives program that encourages pollinator conservation work on farms and arms food-industry partners with the tools to communicate their work within their industry and to consumers. This workshop will outline the benefits of farming for bees and provide insights on the program through the lense of farmers who are certified.
