Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner and NRCS Partner Biologist, Iowa

Under the direction of the Xerces Society Senior Pollinator Conservation Specialist (Midwest Region), and in collaboration with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) local District Conservationist, Iowa state and field office staff, the Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner will provide conservation planning, technical support and training focused on pollinators, monarch butterflies, and other beneficial insects to farmers and NRCS field office planners in Iowa. During the first several months, this position will support conservation planning in nearby field offices. Over time, the incumbent will provide support to conservation planners throughout Iowa. The ideal candidate will be able to bring together conservation planning guidance that addresses multiple goals of soil, water, and pollinator conservation.

Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner and NRCS Partner Biologist, Maine

    • Location: NRCS Field Office, Bangor, ME

Under the direction of the Xerces Society Pollinator Conservation Specialist (Mid-Atlantic Region), and in collaboration with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Maine state office staff and New England based Xerces staff, the Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner will provide conservation planning, technical support and training focused on pollinators and other beneficial insects to farmers and NRCS field office planners in New England. During the first several months, conservation planning support will focus on field offices close to Bangor, Maine. Over time, the incumbent will provide support to conservation planners throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will be able to bring together conservation planning guidance that addresses multiple goals of soil, water, and pollinator and beneficial insect conservation.

Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner and NRCS Partner Biologist, Minnesota

    • Location: Dakota County USDA Service Center (Farmington, Minnesota)
    • Application Deadline: Feb. 27, 2017
    • Start Date: April 11, 2017

Under the direction of the Xerces Society Pollinator Conservation Specialist (Great Lakes Region), and in collaboration with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Minnesota and Wisconsin state office staff, the Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner will provide NRCS staff and farmers with conservation planning, technical support, and training focused on the habitat needs of bees, monarch butterflies, pollinator species in decline, and other beneficial insects on farms. During the first several months, this position will focus conservation planning efforts on farms and field offices in southeast Minnesota, with the geographic scope of the work to expand with time, including across Minnesota and into eastern Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the step-by-step process of habitat creation and enhancement for pollinators, and will be able to bring together conservation planning guidance that addresses multiple goals of soil, water, and pollinator conservation.

Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner and NRCS Partner Biologist, Nebraska

    • Location: Lincoln, Nebraska USDA NRCS field office (with part time at Norfolk, NE field office)

    • Start Date: April 11, 2017

Under the direction of the Xerces Society Senior Pollinator Conservation Specialist (Midwest Region), and in collaboration with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Nebraska state office staff, the Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner will provide farmers and NRCS field office planners with conservation planning, technical support and training focused on pollinators, honey bees, monarch butterflies and other declining pollinator species, and beneficial insects. During the first several months, this position will support conservation planning in field offices close to Lincoln, NE. Over time, the incumbent will provide support to conservation planners throughout eastern Nebraska and eastern South Dakota. The ideal candidate will be able to bring together conservation planning guidance that addresses multiple goals of soil, water, and pollinator conservation.

Under the direction of the Xerces Society Senior Pollinator Conservation Specialist (Midwest Region), and in collaboration with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) North Dakota state office staff, the Farm Bill Pollinator Conservation Planner will provide conservation planning, technical support and training focused on pollinators, honey bees, declining butterflies, declining bumble bees, and other beneficial insects to farmers and NRCS field office planners in North Dakota and eastern Montana. During the first several months, this position will support conservation planning in field offices close to Bismarck. Over time, the incumbent will provide support to conservation planners throughout North Dakota and into eastern Montana. The ideal candidate will be able to bring together conservation planning guidance that addresses multiple goals of soil, water, and pollinator conservation.
