Sierra joined the Xerces Society in 2021. Originally from Bainbridge Island, Sierra moved to Portland in 2011 to attend Lewis & Clark College. She graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in English and psychology. Sierra worked for six years at a Montessori school before joining the Xerces community. She enjoys working alongside the passionate and knowledgeable staff at Xerces who share important information about the “little things that run the world."

As a child, Sierra spent a memorable morning watching bees warm up in the sun and fly away. She still loves learning about plants and animals. Sierra enjoys exploring nature, hiking, swimming, and biking. She lives in SE Portland with her fluffy cat and bike-enthusiast partner.
